Plug-in: Speed up the loading time of your online shop with a "cache"

Using the Smartstore feature "Output Caching", your pages are cached to achieve maximum performance.

Although Smartstore is inherently fast, the amount of dynamic information you display on your pages correlates directly with the server resources used, memory, and processing cycles that affect page load speed. By caching your pages, you can achieve performance close to that of static Web pages because they are stored in their fully rendered state.

Output Caching for peak performance

Smartstore's Output Caching Plugin is a powerful performance tool which guarantees short response times and prevents loading speed dropping at peak times (e.g. Christmas, or certain times in office supply shops etc.). Depending on the database and current traffic, you can increase the speed of your shop by a factor of 2 to 50 when the cache is active.

Typically, a shop system or content management system (such as the CMS Page Builder) dynamically creates websites by retrieving images, templates and content from various sources, including file stores and databases. This takes some time (although only a few seconds). Even if different website visitors view the same website and content, the server dynamically creates these pages. With Output Caching, this is not the case. Once a website has been viewed by a visitor, Output Caching saves the website in its fully rendered state. If another visitor requests the same page, Output Caching activates the caching server and delivers the pre-rendered page immediately. You do not have to look in the database, you do not have to retrieve templates dynamically.

Caching can be enabled per page range and you can specify the interval at which the cache is updated. When a page is loaded for the first time, the cache file is written into your application/cache folder. If the page then loads, the cache file is retrieved and sent to the browser of the requesting user. If it expires, it will be deleted and updated before being sent to the browser.

The cache can be set to update at specific intervals or in response to specific events to ensure that the most recent content is cached (useful for rapidly changing information such as the latest news or rapidly changing prices).
